At Pitbull Pumps, we excel in solving the industry’s most challenging pump applications, including solids handling, abrasives, explosive-proof environments, and high use applications. We also go beyond our standard product line to provide custom industrial pumps for your unique pumping challenges.
Extreme Solids and Trash Capacity
While Pitbull Pumps are uniquely capable of handling solids, some applications require special custom pump adaptations for large solids handling. For this purpose, Pitbull Pumps offers a special flow path and valving configuration designed for coal handling plants to allow large chucks (coal, packing plant waste, clinkers etc.) to pass. Many packing industry pumping problems have been solved using specially designed Pitbull Pumps including paunch waste and spinal cords.
High Flow Units
When a high-flow system is needed, Pitbull Pumps has custom solutions. Our high-flow systems consist of oversized chambers and piping in either single- or twin-chambered pump configurations. These systems can accomplish flow rates way beyond what is typically associated with air-operated pumps. Twin chambered pumps also allow for maximum flow capacity in smaller line sizes and extended pipe runs. The largest Pitbull Pump to date has been 2000 gpm.
Oil Water Separation and Shear Sensitive Applications
The Pitbull pneumatic pumping action is an extremely low shear, low emulsification technology that substantially improves oil/water separator performance. Whether operating as a skimmer or simply submersed, the Pitbull Pump can intake two free-phase liquids and pump them without raising the velocity or adding turbulence. The underlying Pitbull design of large passages and low velocity also allows for the successful pumping/transfer of live fish to fruits and vegetables.

Solids Agitating Mixer (SAM) and Flow Inducement
During washdown or lower flow conditions, solids can accumulate in the pump and around the inlet, binding the check valve. To stir up sediment in sludge and slurry applications with these conditions two Solids Agitating Mixer custom pump options are available. A water jet can be installed pointed directly at the lower half of the inlet check valve port and is turned on just ahead of the wash-down process to keep the check valve functioning under high solids concentrations and assist materials into the pump. Or, a flow inducer option will give the pump powerful suction at its inlet, which will helps thick materials to flow in.
